David Friend on PC backup.Every small business holds valuable content on PC and laptop hard drives. But data disaster looms – your hard drive could crash, your laptop could be stolen or lost. So you have to ask yourself – are you prepared?

Many of us have heard the horror stories and are well aware of the consequences, but do not take the necessary time to prepare for such an event. With many business owners being pulled in many different directions, at times, it’s difficult to remain focused. But the fact is, your hard drive IS your business – what would you do in the event you’ve lost the company data?

Our featured guest in this episode of Small Business Trends Radio is David Friend, CEO of Carbonite. David has a solution on the year of the PC backup and what it means for your business.

For instance, did you know that:

  • There is a 1 in 8 chance — of your hard drive crashing. Like it or not, it’s a fact that hard drives crash and valuable data becomes lost forever.
  • Nearly 10% of laptops — are lost or stolen every year. It could happen to you – and it could happen when you least expect it.
  • It’s easy to backup your files — without focusing on it daily. The program is installed on your computer and the initial data file backup is run. After that, simply sit back and be worry free. The backup will run automatically when you are connected to the Internet. If you are using your computer, then the program “sleeps.”
  • There are 200 million — PC’s connected to the Internet. Only 3% of them are being properly backed up. A simple backup solution that runs automatically on a daily basis saves you time and a lot of possible future headaches.

David Friend offers a quick and easy solution to protect and store your valuable data for quick recovery in the event of a data disaster. Be prepared and become informed – do not become a horror story statistic.

I too know the feeling of panic when you realize you may lose all your data. I had a virus that locked up my hard drive but thankfully my computer had “go back” installed. I was able to “lose” the virus without loosing my data. My new PC does not have that feature & it has been on my mind. I just listened to the show and now I will be trying Carbonite!

Thankfully, I have never had that happen to me but this is definitly food for thought.

I use Carbonite’s services and am very pleased with them. It’s very comforting to know that all of my files are protected. I was stung one time and it caused me great stress – no more worries now! I highly recommend Carbonite’s services to anyone.

I haven’t gone a full year without some sort of data loss, whether it was a dropped hard drive, computer crash, or a weird error that doesn’t make sense but manages to destroy everything…

Luckily this past year I used Carbonite (along with a number of DVD-Rs and other backup methods) and have been able to recover data from these disasters.

    Definitely look at Carbonite!
