Podcast Review

This week’s Podcast Review is about the Marketing Edge Podcast.

Description: Advice and insight on marketing, public relations, podcasting and communication from Albert Maruggi, a veteran of radio, television, politics and the corporate world.

Comments: Music, great sound quality, humor and great content is what you will find in the Marketing Edge Podcast. Like us, this podcast is one of the longest running business podcasts available.

Covering the full gambit from traditional marketing topics to all of the Web 2.0 and social media categories this podcast leaves nothing to chance. Well planned and well designed to serve the audience quickly and effectively. Some sample show topics are:

– Viral Envy: Yeah, me too
– YouTube gives us voice: Now will we listen?
– Multimedia search & viral video essentials
– Audio and video: Positioning for the future

and much more. The shows are done just about weekly, average 10-15 minutes and length and are perfect for rapid learning and getting to the point of the matter.

Pluses: Instant Play, good website, great mix of blog posts, audio and video. RSS easily available and and iTunes button as well.

Lots of tags and Digg links, categories and archive links are available and easy to identify.

Minuses: I wish there was a better index to show topics organized by marketing domain. There are search, categories and archives but I have to work a bit to get to the marketing issue I want to explore.

Recommendation: If keeping current on today’s marketing is important to you then I highly recommend you give the Marketing Edge Podcast a listen.

This is an informative podcast. I’ve come across it before. I agree, though, that it’s a bit difficult to find what you may be looking for, but definitely worth it once you do find it. Tons of information available there.

Thought the web site was pretty good. Was difintley worth the listen…good infor.

  3. Albert Maruggi Says:

Anita, you are right about the categories. I’ll work on that one. I thought the Everyzing box would be enough so people can search the audio by keywords and get a search page with all of the podcasts where their keyword was mentioned. Then click on the word to go directly to that portion of the podcast to listen to the topic.

However, the issue you raise is fundamental to our customer driven society which is people learn and want information differently. Some are visual learners, some audio, others want learn by doing or experiencing. So a category side bar is a great idea.

    All the best.

  4. Albert Maruggi Says:

Sorry, I perhaps gave Anita too much credit, I just realized Steve posted the blog about the Marketing Edge, thanks for the category idea Steve. Anita gets alot of deserved credit, but in this case Steve I appreciate the post.

  5. Amanda Says:

Lots of good topics and content. I do agree that it is a tiny bit harder to navigate.

  6. Anita Campbell Says:

Thanks, Albert, for catching that Steve deserves the credit here. :)
