Blogging. Many of us are doing it. We’re writing about topics that range from pets to cooking to business – you name it. If you can think it, chances are that someone’s out there blogging about it right now as we speak.
And if you’re one of the thousands, possibly even millions, out there doing it, I’m sure there have been times that you’ve wondered how you can become better at it, become more professional about it. Maybe even make some money from it.
Stephane Grenier is the author of Blog Blazers and Founder of LandlordMax Software, Inc. Stephane shares the lessons he’s learned through both his own experiences as well as what he’s learned interviewing the 40 successful bloggers from his book “Blog Blazers.”
Here is a peek into the discussion with Stephane:
- It can take years — for a blog to get real weight and visibility. So think about the long term benefits that slowly build over time and keep going. Whatever you do, don’t stop.
- Less control comes with — free blogging services so consider your own hosting. You save money with free blogging services, but once your blog begins to grow and evolve, you may find that your options are quite limited.
- A Google PR of 4 — or an Alexa ranking under 500,000 are signs that indicate your blog is getting a decent level of momentum. Monthly unique visitors anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 are good indications that your blog is reaching a meaningful audience and developing a presence.
- Focus on your headlines — and make your posts scanable by using bold and italicized text because most people don’t read an entire blog post. Highlight points of interest or importance to catch the readers attention.
Stephane covers all the nitty-gritty details that go into successful blogging such as reaching out to people, finding effective ways to communicate, marketing, monetizing . . he even discusses the importance of purchasing typos of your keywords. The list goes on and on.
