Trend Spotting: Interview With Anita Campbell

Small Biz AdviceJanuary 8, 2010By

Trend SpottingDawn Rivers Baker, host of The Micobusiness News Briefs Podcast, had a special guest at the end of 2009 – our very own Anita Campbell.

The tables were turned and this time, Anita found herself on the opposite side of the microphone where she was interviewed about the topic of trend spotting and how to apply it to your small business:

“I’m talking about turning our hands to trend-watching, a topic about which I had a fun and informative conversation with my good friend, Anita Campbell.  Anita offers us tips on:

  • how do you spot trends and what can you do about them?
  • how early is “too early” to take advantage of new trends?
  • what’s the window of opportunity between “fad” and “trend” and “mainstream”?”

Trend spotting can be very beneficial to small business.  Staying abreast of up-and-coming opportunities can really payoff if you’ve spotted a trend and jumped on the bandwagon early.  Visit “An Interview With Anita Campbell” to hear the entire discussion.

It was interesting to listen to Anita’s answers to Dawn Rivers Baker’s questions.

Re.: FriendFeed not catching on… I will continue to use FriendFeed as one of my outposts on the net, but I agree with you that it hasn’t spread as far yet. Yesterday I went on FriendFeed again, when Twitter was down and the blue fail whale showed up. I am thinking of using FriendFeed as a conversation / chat channel during podcast show. I like the fact that you could stream other things through FriendFeed, e.g. Twitter messages, blog posts, Flickr photos.
